Brilliant Internet browser
Ok so i spent 5 days at my nan and grandads this week and my grandads good with PC's he helps ppl with there PC problems and stuff like that. and he came across this internet browser called 'Sandboxie'.
Now this is not any ordanary (cant spell) browser. this browser lets you go on any site without a record going on ur PC of you being on there, Also if a virus is on that site it can not harm you PC in anyway due to the fact that sandboxie kind of makes the virus think that theres no PC looking at the site.
i will tell u what heres a link it can explain things better than i can
http://www.sandboxie.com/
i think its great for sites that ur not to sure if there may be a virus on there or not. or if u wanna look at a naughty website and i dont want anyone to see that youve ever been on there .
Enjoy!

So that's for porn and warez! brilliant!
j/k but I'm pleased with Firefox and AVG anti virus.
I don't really see where you would need such protection although it does look nice.

I wouldn't use it for porn, but It would be useful for things like clicking on links you don't trust, I am very hesitant to click on links nowdays, only if it is from friends who I trust or a site that seems alright.

This idea is known in modern computing systems as "virtualisation", where any software (including the Operating System) is executing in a "virtual environment" that looks like the real one, but it's only created by the virtualisation software (sometimes called hypervisor). So every time you surf the web, you create such a virtual environment, surf using it, then throw away the whole package alltogether when you're finished. No trace of your browsing whatsoever, no impact on your "real" system.
It's a genius idea, but I wouldn't personally trust an independent programmer to do this kind of job. I'm not here to cast doubts about his integrity as a programmer, but when it comes to protecting someone's privacy/security, I won't put all my eggs in only one basket. And surely not on the basket of a guy I don't trust (at the moment).
If you want pro-grade virtualisation where to run your stuff, you have VMware (paying) or Xen (free and open-source, but complicated), and also Wine on Linux (requires a copy of windows). Microsoft also gives away the old VirtualPC (here, very helpfull for running my Wind95 games).
Edit: technically, you may want to know that the kind of techniques used to produce such a program are the same as the ones used to produce rootkits, which are notoriously famous for being used by (serious) hackers. It's also well-known that not all rootkits are bad. But this is very serious business and not the same things as using a normal software.

Yeah right :P
Cool technology, I would think it'd be great for online banking.

This might actually make online transactions safe.
I might try it, but I currently have no problems with Firefox 3 and Norton.

No thanks. It may be free to use, but I don't care for pop-ups nagging me to register to unlock all the features.

Not brilliant. I tried it, and it slowed my computer down to a crawl... booting... opening sites... it was torturous. I uninstalled it last night and that feeling of being time warped back to the horse and buggy days of dialup is gone.

Crippled nagware, ecch.
Is it worth the fee to find out how well it can perform?
Hmm, wonder if I can install it at work and bypass the victorian nanny filters?
